Lulu’s first prototype is finally taking shape! This is the 3D model I’ve been working on in Blender, and sculpting has brought her closer to becoming the character I’ve been imagining. There’s still room for fine adjustments, but seeing her form come to life like this is such a rewarding experience.
The Journey So Far
Designing Lulu’s body was relatively straightforward—I had a clear vision of her sleek, feline shape and how she would look in motion. The head, though, especially her face, has been a completely different story. Balancing traits like intelligence, humor, curiosity, playfulness, and adventure in one expression has been a real challenge. Each tweak feels like a step toward capturing her personality, but it’s a process that’s still evolving.
A Work in Progress
At this stage, Lulu’s model is simple and unpolished. There are no textures or stylized details yet—just the base form and some initial sculpting. Despite that, she’s already starting to feel like the Lulu I’ve envisioned. It’s amazing how even the smallest details, like the tilt of her ears or the shape of her eyes, can make such a difference.
There’s still plenty of work to do, but every step brings me closer to the character I want her to be. The next stages will involve adding stylized textures and refining her features even more, making sure she’s ready to step into the nebula of Finora with all the charm and spirit she deserves.
What’s Next for Lulu?
In Lulu The Cat and the Fishes of Finora, Lulu will explore planets and chase exotic space fish in a vibrant, otherworldly setting. Her design needs to reflect the playful yet adventurous tone of the game, and I’m excited to continue refining her look.
What do you think of this early version? Does she capture the curiosity and charm of a cat ready to explore the unknown? I’d love to hear your thoughts—feedback is always welcome!
Stay tuned for more updates as Lulu’s journey continues!
